  1. Hey there, I recommend the long heavy bag, for an all rounder. (Black and white in the picture) I recently added the tear drop bag to my gym for upper cuts and knees but I’m finding I’m still getting more wear out of the longer one. I can smash lower kicks on a longer bag too which is really satisfying on days I don’t feel flexible. hope this helps
  2. Your'e definitely in the right place for motivation. Check out Sylvie's videos, YouTube or esp in the Muay Thai Library as a Patron member she trains with all the golden legend greats, so so inspiring and her dedication is infectious Or the blogs, Muay Thai Bones podcasts... so much information! this place Has helped me immensely in staying with my training.
  3. Thanks I'm pretty proud!! Wow that's a great space you have there! There is definitely room for a heavy bag! but what is really cool is that you have a wood ceiling, you could totally put up a chin up/Pull up/hang bar!! Id make one side Muay Thai and one side fitness too, but that's just me being ODC hahaha Cant wait to see the finished gym.
  4. Hi everyone, Just wanted to share my finished at home gym! all second hand gear that I’ve picked up in different places. now, just to use this space anyone else wanna share their home gyms? Or fave place to train
  5. I’ve come across this! Another reason why I left my last gym. That was the final straw along with some other things. I did a few months with John Wayne Parr when I lived in the Goldy and not even he demanded that title. (And he probably could if he wanted to) The arrogance in the west can be exhausting. Amazing gym by the way and highly recommend training with JWP
  6. Great question... interested in what will be answered “following post”
  7. Ah I’m hearing you! I’ve got Eastern European blood too and culturally I see differences too. My fathers side is italian which is completely opposite hahaha! it’s all very interesting.
  8. I think it depends what type of gym you are in, Or what culture you are living in. I’ve heard males discuss their mental health and addiction problems before and They are well respected in the MT community. I don’t think it’s uncommon for fighters to talk about their heart. for example MikeTyson admits he is an emotional guy. I Do agree though that this virus is getting more people to connect and open up.
  9. Muay Thai really is my anti depression. I was in a mentally abusive relationship a few years ago just as I lost my Dad to cancer and it left me a little bit fucked in the head. I’d find myself falling into depression for no real reason. It was like my brain was used to those emotions. Muay Thai pulls me out of those thoughts. I too have Had bad addiction problems, like most emotional artists we drink or do drugs and especially in the groups we keep. it’s acceptable to get completely smashed and talk junk. Or drink after gigs etc. Muay Thai has helped me to stop all those things. Sober 5 years, no drugs, no smokes, no alcohol. Spirituality it has helped me so much too, I have a few Sak yants and amulets etc. I try hard to follow this way of living bugger I should of totally submitted THIS response into the new competition!
  10. because I have to - to live. it’s the only thing that works to keep my brain happy. I’ll be a 90 year old lady and I’ll still be kicking things
  11. It’s such a struggle for me. I did a little bit of training in Thailand when I was on holiday and returned to Thailand hooked and trained some more. But Back home... on returning, I really struggled to find anything like it. I finally did but I had to leave my gym of 4 years which was a hard transition but I couldn’t bare the arrogance. The masculine aggression. My trainer I have now is perfect. He has also lived in Thailand and I believe that really helps When looking for a genuine gym. He also has the spirituality that surrounds Thai gyms which is very important to me Too. I feel “most“ western Muay Thai gyms are brute force kickboxing mma gyms. Very rarely are they respectful Muay Thai that you see in most of Thailand.
  12. I’m struggling to find the words to how moving this all was. much respect
  13. Love retro Boon shorts! The best! I have twin gloves, bought some Fairtex to try something different but I keep returning to the twins. I have twins for shinnies too. Fairtex for wraps.
  14. Australia has closed all gyms but my gym is doing a discount membership for online classes and workouts (a few other gyms are doing this too) I just spent some time today putting up my 2nd heavy bag and turning my garage into a little gym as I can’t really afford to pay my membership for online training right now. pretty much lost all my source of income due to the virus restrictions. I’m keeping busy with Muay Thai/ the Muay Thai library, and Sylvie’s FB lives is what is keeping my mental health in check . Stay home and safe everyone
  15. I got myself a heavy bag, but before that I tied a pillow to a beam to practised kicks :)
  16. Relate to this post re getting out of bed so much. Yep, Feeling it ... Bit by bit and acknowledging the hard has helped me too. Enjoy these podcast very much
  17. Hey, thanks for the reply Here is a link to Leone, they are made in Italy (I’ve seen A few fighters wear them here in Australia) https://www.leone1947.com/en/store/muay-thai-boxing-gloves-gn031.html I own a pair of twins and im looking for sparing gloves I’m such a creature of habit it’s hard to change.
  18. Hi everyone, Im new to the forums Absolutely love you Sylvie and Kevin! So inspiring to me. I’m just curious about gloves, I’ve been training about 4 years and I’m very obsessed with everything Muay Thai. What is everyone’s choice of gloves? Also what do you guys think of Leone Muay Thai gloves? I’m hearing good things but nervous about not buying Thai made. Thanks in afvance and nice to meet everyone.
