  1. Hi everyone, Hopefully this is alright for a first post, wanted to share my experiences training with Sagat over the next few weeks. I arrived in Thailand in Mid-march coming from Egypt, I was in a mad dash to make it somewhere calm before the lockdowns took full effect. Over 10 years ago I trained Muay Thai while in college, and had always wanted to go to Thailand (the usual Muay Thai dream), although I didnt expect to arrive under the circumstances. I got an apartment and I spent the past month trying to condition myself as best I could (lots and lots and lots of burpees), and I discovered 8Limbs while watching Lawrence Kenshin videos on youtube, and one thing led to another and I became a patron and here I am Anyways, I got into contact with Sylvie, and I was able to meet with Sagat, and told him I want to train daily with him the next few months. Side note-Im going to be living in Thailand for the foreseeable future long term, Currently we are two days in, and I cannot recommend Sagat enough. I'm basically a total novice, and I was uncertain if I would even be worth teaching for him, but he was incredibly excited He is very 1st principle based in everything, and his way of describing things, you realize there is both the technique he's showing you, and the technique behind the technique of how it fits into a larger contextual picture. He teaches on a continuum, and he talks about most students that come to him for 1on1, there's no way to people to learn more than 1 or 2 details, and that really acquiring the skill takes time, "organization" is a word of his, both in how you move, and how build techniques Should you ever come to Thailand, you must train with him --13 Coins does have active fighters, He introduced me to two of the younger ones that are actively fighting (they've won some junior titles). Right now its only a handful of younger kids training there, although i got the impression its normally much busier minus the lockdown situation. Sagat has an arrangement with the hotel next door if anyone wants to stay there and train. Its very far outside any tourist area.

  2. Hey everyone I've been lurking for sometime and i decided to share my experiences with you all, why not? Intro I have trained at quiet a few gyms all over Thailand except Northern (Chaing Mai) and the southern islands excluding Phuket. All of the gyms I mention besides most in Phuket and Pattaya I have trained at for at least 2 months. For some gyms my girlfriend who trains but has no intentions of fighting was with me so ill give you views from that perspective as well I'll list gyms and give some info working down the list. Gyms Lamanmoon Sor Sumalee (Ubon) 2 trips 3 years apart 5 months each. Sitmonchai (Kanchanaburi ) 2 months Sitjaopho (Hua Hin) 10 months Venum (Pattaya) few weeks Petchrungruang (Pattaya) 2 weeks Sinbi (Phuket) Rattachai(Phuket) 2 trips 1 year apart 1 month and 3 months Phuket top team (Phuket) Kingka Muay Thai (Phuket) Lamnamoon Overview: Lamnamoon was the first camp i trained at in Thailand and I'm so happy for that. I think being in Ubon/Isasn set the tone and helped me understand Thailand and Thai culture a lot better than if a more popular city was my first destination. My first trip i was lucky at having good timing at the time i was surrounded by lots of high level foreign fighters. Sean Kearney, Jordan Coe and others and How they work The training is very traditional. We never did drills or practiced scenarios, repetitive bag work both sessions (LOTS of teeps knees and More Knees) . The coaches especially Kru Yo pay very close attention to your training it may seem hands off but you many not realize hes spoken to your pad holder. In the course of a week sometimes you will have clinched everyday sometimes both sessions and spar a few times as well. Feel free to ask any questions about technique you wont be chided, i once asked a question about skip knees in the clinch which turned in to 10 min knees on the bag both sessions supervised for two weeks. Gym vibe The gym is very family orientated Food is cooked by Kru Yo's parents who live behind the gym with the thai fighters. Plenty of laughing but also very forward instruction. No one will hold your hand and make you, run, jump rope or do bag work but they pay attention especially for fighters. My first fight in Thailand and all my favorite fights are through this gym Plenty of fight opportunities in temples and festivals all through Isaan occasionally Laos and Cambodia via Buriram. It can be harder for larger fighter to find matches in festivals sometimes. Location There isn't much to do in Ubon holiday wise (my preference), Movies, temples, markets festivals. Accommodation: If you choose to stay with the camp it will be with Kru Yo's family separate apartments on a small complex hot water laundry across the street and small shops for coffee etc down the street. The gym and rooms are different locations. Temples: Many of the temples are of the forest style Including Wat Pah Nanacha the temple for foreigners , Wat Nong Pah Pong who grounds are a beautiful and forest like. Last words I think Lamnamoon is a good gym for the disciplined even if you're a beginner. Small class attention to detail Always seem invested in my progress Ubon great city to avoid distractions(but some people will find them anyway) The Isaan cultrue music and food is great. Temple, festival and Air Force base fight opportunities. Ubon is Cheap cheapest part of Thailand i Have ever stayed Most people dont speak English in Ubon but great place to start learning Thai and Isaan most locals support it. So let me know what i can do with upcoming reviews to make them better or ask any questions. Ill try to get better at this sorry for typos also I have got a weird setup here.

  3. Its still officially closed, although I THINK the few younger fighters that live there are training By the looks of it I dont think any farang train out of there, Thais only. Ive only been doing privates, and cannot attest to what the normal training is like. The gym itself has a lot of charm, but its definitely NOT catering to foreigners. Shower facility is a faucet on a wall, lots of broken equipment everywhere, and no changing rooms other than a toilet inside a shed next to the shower

  4. Sure, I contacted them through their website email tsm@thaismai-tsm.com They sent me bank details and price including shipping. I deposited the money no problem straight into their account. The book including shipping to Australia was just under 100 Aussie dollars which is about 2000 Thai baht.

  7. Hey there, love the gyms shown here. Great thread idea! just wanted to share our little living room gym. When the lockdown got real, I spent a little cash so Ina and I could continue training. I feel very lucky and thankful to have her by my side and to have the opportunity for a home gym like this. This jump rope is not used indoors btw., but in our driveway. It’s brutal and rips your arms out after 30 seconds.
