  1. Oh yes, teep is probably best counter, but I feel it takes a lot of experience and practice and balance to react like this if the opponent is very fast. But I guess being tall I really would benefit from focused teep practising. Funnily enough my first session back at the gym I had to do a never ending teep session. I heard your comment in your fight video that apparently you were teeped out of breath, but I really saw nothing of it didn't seem to bother you. And thanks a lot . I've been picked apart by one of my trainers for the way I reacted to lowkicks (and everything else) and although a good thing for someone to care, it's hard.

  2. Hi Guys/Girls, I have a bit of mma background, previously been to Thailand for a little trip a few years ago and used to be a member of the infamous Muaythailand.com Forum. I have recently got the urge to get back into Muay Thai and currently in planning stages for a 4-6 month trip! This is a very interesting and useful forum to help plan a trip to Thailand! I like the positive vibe of this forum and the lack of flame wars! Will try and contribute as much as I can post a review of the gyms I visit!

  4. Shadowboxing. Lots and lots and lots of shadowboxing. That's what Yodkhunpon always tells me. You train the muscle memory of lower body working with the upperbody and landing off of kicks into upperbody techniques, etc. It's like dancing, but practicing the transitions between the upper and lower body as a way to create balance. If you go against a sparring partner who is pretty good at combining their punches and kicks, literally copy everything they do, strike for strike, for a couple of rounds. It's like the "repeat after me" game of learning a language in school. Worth a try.

  5. Check out 4 Sisters apartments on Soi Phrom Pak/Thong Lor 25. Not sure if they do 6 month contracts or not but I think rooms there are 5,500 a month. Why Thong Lo area? Much easier to find something in that price range in Phra Khanong or On Nut.

  6. This. This is what matters to me. Intent. To explain a little about my background so people understand why this is important to me: I grew up just doing hard sparring, gym war type stuff. Intent is real and many that came up this way saw a lot of damage being done for no real reason other than "can you take it". There wasnt a lot recovery research being taught either. It was a walk it off mentality. Because of that I ended up a chronically in pain 38 year old. Its taken me years to get to the point where the pain is gone and my body is normal, years of recovery and therapy. Im in no way against hard sparring for the right people whether they are hobbyists that want to be tested or fighters prepping, Im just against the mindless hard sparring because tough guy shit. It serves no purpose. I mean, Ive seen really bad injuries in technical sparring, it happens. But sparring like everything else needs to be used as a tool, applied because theres a goal. If the goal is to push someone for competition or because they want it, then the intent is pure. Im all for that.
