This is Paradise Gym, (named after my snake business, Paradise Pythons). I have a 6 foot heavy bag, jump rope, Thai pads, focus pads and gloves. I'm planning on adding a uppercut bag to the set up. The out side area (my back yard) has my new boxing ring, I'm building the floor this weekend. Also I have a chicken coop with 3 chickens for added authenticity.

@Snack Paybackย Haha, that's crazy! he actually did it. I've had a lot of people joke about it, but yeah, there's no way i"ll be having backyard Kimbo style fights going on. We spar very lightย so there's no injuries that prevent us from training. I managed to get the floor built on the weekend and did some pad work with my mate. we tried out a new body protector too. I'll upload some pics soon.

Small upgrade here as well:ย camera stand, phone holder and external mic for our live training sessions.ย

But I am really glad that we can finallyย re-open the gym tomorrow, even though it has to be contactless training for now.

Here's a little update on my setup I had someone do a mural on the wall for inspiration. The next step is putting in some heavy bags and more gym equipment to make the work out area complete.

We had to move house so my little gym

had to move too.ย
I think itโ€™s a blessing in disguiseย

We live in subtropics so during summer this will definitely have a Thai vibe with the humidity ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿคฉ

Love seeing everyone's training space!

Here mine. It's not much, but grateful to have anything at all.

That looks like a great space to train in to be honest.ย  I love the fact that you have trees and plants around your area. Also your attitude and being grateful towards what you have is the most important.

I hope your move went well and I'm glad you found a nice place to settle in. I definitely like the set up you got going there. I can for sure feel the Thai vibes. You have a beautiful view that's for sure and that's very inspiring.

    • The journey should change us.ย  We should not travel a journey contrived for our convenience.ย  I experienced similar working in the Middle-East.ย  People had to live with 'face' and real social pressure, none was projected onto me, at least none that I understood. I love Sylvie's Muay Thai and her approach to fighting, the respect that she shows to the retired fighters and her coaches.ย  Unfortunately, 'All that is solid melts into air, all that is holy is profaned, and man is at last compelled to face with sober senses, his real conditions of life, and his relations with his kind.'ย  Money corrupts.ย  All relations are social, but those mediated by money and social hierarchy are corrupted too.ย  More power to Sylvie's project!ย  Keep it real!ย
    • As someone who loves this sport, itโ€™s hard to hear, but months of symptoms from one sparring kick is a major warning sign. Itโ€™s not necessarily about having a 'glass jaw,' but your brain might just be more sensitive to trauma than the average person. In a real fight, the adrenaline is high and the shots are 10x harder if your recovery was that rough in a controlled environment, a fight could do permanent damage. There's plenty of joy in being a technical nak muay without the amateur fight trophy. Please prioritize your long-term health over one night in the ring.
    • Hey guys, Im a 19 year old college student who's been training kickboxing for almost a year and a half now, I'm planning to go train muay thai at Sit Thai gym in Chiang Mai for 2 months this may. ย  How do I find a place to stay there? Also, how reliable is it to pay an advance for a place I see online, and arriving there to my place, Any help would be appreciated, Im really confused about acommodation

    • I'm sorry I don't really know. Sylvie is in touch with a collector and this person is where she buys hers, but there are not multiple copies available. Maybe someone else would know of a larger source.
    • Where can I find some physical old Muay Thai magazines? I am located in Bangkok. Thanks
    • I can only comment on Perth. There's a very active Muay Thai scene here - regular shows. Plenty of gyms across the city with Thai trainers. All gyms offer trial classes so you can try a few out before committing . Direct flights to Bangkok and Phuket as well. Would you be coming over on a working holiday visa? Loads of work around Western Australia at the moment.ย
    • Hi, I'm considering moving to Australia from the UK and I'm curious what is the scene like? Is it easy to fight frequently (proam/pro level), especially as a female? How does it compare to the UK? Any gym recommendations? I'll be grateful for any insights.
    • You won't find thai style camps in Europe, because very few people can actually fight full time, especially in muay thai. As a pro you just train at a regular gym, mornings and evenings, sometimes daytime if you don't have a job or one that allows it. Best you can hope for is a gym with pro fighters in it and maybe some structured invite-only fighters classes. Even that is a big ask, most of Europe is gonna be k1 rather than muay thai. A lot of gyms claim to offer muay thai, but in reality only teach kickboxing. I think Sweden has some muay thai gyms and shows, but it seems to be an exception. I'm interested in finding a high-level muay thai gym in Europe myself, I want to go back, but it seems to me that for as long as I want to fight I'm stuck in the UK, unless I switch to k1 or MMA which I don't want to do.
