Loma Lookboonmee vs Kim Townsend

Recommended Posts

Am excited to see Loma's coming down to Australia to fight on Caley and Darren Reece's show. Unfortunately it'll be on the other side of the country for me and doesn't look like it's being streamed.

The idea that Loma has fought only 46 times is pretty funny. But recently Phetjeejaa's record showed "30" on a televised fight, when she in fact has probably over 150 fights already. But yeah, probably a pretty big weight difference. Loma just fought at 45 kg at the IFMAs, while Kim's preferred weight is stated at 53 kg. I'd guess that the big question will be how Kim handles Loma's throws, and how throws will be scored. I pray this one will have video, but I'm guessing not.

Unfortunately, haven't found anyone yet who took video but it sounds like it was a very exciting fight with lots of dumps from Loma. Here's a photo of her with her girlfriend (famous fighter Chommanee) after the fight. It looks like she has a dent in her forehead, which she said is from the ropes, haha. Oh, Loma won on points.

I pretty much expected Loma to land the dumps all night, she is crazy good at it! Hey Sylvie, have you tried copying her dump technique and incorporating it into your game? On a side note Chomanee has awesome shoes.

I've definitely broken down her trips and throws. I don't usually look at much film of opponents, but she's great to learn from. It's pretty elementary in terms of movement, but what makes it special is all the experience she has had, really years in clinch training, which allows her to have perfect timing and set up. Her main throw is in the opposite direction of mine, so it's not natural for me, but when I was in a private with Karuhat he coincidentally taught me her throw, so I'm gradually working it into my clinch, if only to make me well-rounded and more balanced. I'm also working with it so I can be more aware of her when she attempts it.

We're in luck!

Loma's timing in the clinch is amazing.

Someone sent this to Sylvie this morning, just watched it, so appreciative that the promotion put it up! It's great to see female fighters doing their thing. Sylvie will probably have a post up on this fight today (she's at training, will watch it when she gets home). Must be so frustrating to Kim. Loma fights the fight in a whole different place. Not striking. Space. It's a very simple approach, but not simplistic in the least. Difficult to crack.
