Hip rotation on the Thai Kick - HELP

Recommended Posts

Hi Sylvie

I’ve been training on and off for about 4 years.
Im pretty decent, however, I was never taught the correct technique to roundhouse kicking.
I throw my kick more like a soccer kick with my foot leading.
I have very powerful kicks but understand that the technique is wrong.

I realized that i dont rotate my hips.

The wrong technique has been ingrained into my head and I dont know how to correctly rotate my hips.

Please help me.

Here's a rough film study we did on the "Golden Kick"

Keep in mind though that there is not ONE "Thai Kick." There are lots of variations and technique might not be "wrong." Honestly, if your kick is powerful and fast then you have a good kick. If it comes out readily in the rhythm of your other movements, it's a good kick.
