Hey everybody,
just want to tell you about my project that I started 5 months ago. I started it cause I feel like we(us here in the west living in comfort) often forget what an easy life we have here. We open the fridge and it has food inside, when we're sick we go to the doctor/hospital get treatment and make use of our healthcare, when we open the tap clean water comes out,...
At a point is realised this and thought about the ones with less luck and wanted to do something for them. After some research I found Baan Gerda ,an orphanage in Lop Buri that takes care of children infected with HIV or AIDS. They take care of their education, get them the needed medication and offer them a way to a"normal"  and happier life with less misery.
As I'm just a simple working man and dont have loads of money I started generating money with a group of memebers of our gym giving Muay Thai "shows" and workshops at a Thai event  in the city, we got payed a litlle and invested in making T-shirts to resell. This and some other initiatives found place;some fights @ an hip hop batlle, more workshops atThai markets and events across the country, even a Thai dinner @ at our local Thai Temple. My friend and coach at another gym organised a seminair with multiple World Champion Germaine de Randemie to support. It are all relative simple and cheap things to organise and raise some funds and at the same time share our loved sport :-)  The first week of november I will travel to Thailand for our holiday and first day of arrival I will go and hand over the funds at Baan Gerda and make a litlle diffirence for them.
If anybody has questions ,tips or things to share or even wants to support us feel free to contact me or leave a message on our page : www.facebook.com/muaythai4orphans
you can take a look at www.baangerda.org to check them out :-)

This is such an amazing project. I've read about some small communities on the outskirts of villages where people with HIV/AIDS are sent, usually cared for by monks but with incredibly limited funds and often no medication. There's a huge dearth of education about HIV/AIDS in many parts of the world and a lot of the rural communities in Thailand don't know how to, or are afraid to, care for their family members who are infected. Giving these kids a safe environment, healthcare and a community is absolutely invaluable. I hope we can help!

Hi peeps,
just got back home today from Thailand, pretty tired but want to share lil update on my project.
I think for the short running time and limited resources we did pretty good :-)
We were able to donate a amount of 3000€ to Baan Gerda Orphanage at Lop Buri to support the future of HIV/AIDS infected children. So happy with the result!!! Really want to thank EVERYBODY who was involved in anyway:shares, likes, donations, sponsoring in all kind of ways ,people giving us chances to give muay thai workshops or  the monk who allowed us to organise a dinner on the temple ground,... to many to name realy appreciated!!!
Couldnt have done it without them.
So G'nite Nick

Hi everybody,
Just wanna let you  know we started again with fundraising to support the HIV/AIDS infected orphans of http://www.baangerda.org/at Lop Buri Thailand. This year we had a great start !! Having some sponsors backing us up to get the project running is awesome,we even got support from our Belgian Kickboxing Muay Thai and MMA Organisation  :-)
Local actions are Muay Thai demonstrations on Thai events , a Big Gym BBQ and some initiation lessons for children.
Global we raise funds by selling the T-shirts. Each T-shirt costs 15 € which goes fully to the orphanage, worldwide sending 5€     . This year we're going Thailand again in November.
Visit to Baan Gerda Orphanage to hand over the raised funds is planned on 26th november leaving from Bangkok with private rented mini-van.
If anyone is interested to join us for this feel free to contact me.
Any idea's or tips for my project also very welcome.
