Sweat suit / Thailand training

Recommended Posts

I've decided go to Thailand and train there for a few weeks, did this earlier in the year and loved it! This time however my friend has decided to join me, and suggested to prepare she runs in a sweat suit, having never used a sweat suit I can't comment, will this help her to adjust to the heat / climate ( we are in the uk) is it a good idea? Apart from running and skipping which other training can can be done in one?

Thanks everyone

This sounds like a pretty nice, and simple idea. The sweat suit (or sauna suit) is common for Thais cutting weight (though you won't have to do this yourself). At the very least it gets you exerting yourself in high humidity, wet heat, taking precautions not to push it too far.

Sylvie wrote about how regular suana Hyperthermic Conditioning could have added health benefits, and how training in heat may be something that helps Thais achieve a degree of conditioning others may not - at least along the lines of thinking by Dr. Rhonda Patrick.

I reckon the effect of this preparation will depend greatly on how frequently it's utilized. Those silly "altitude training mask" thingies may have benefits but they're not doing sh*t for altitude training. As someone from Colorado, I can assure you that it requires 24/7 dealing with the altitude to have any kind of true acclimation process going on.

BUT, heat conditioning in the sauna suit to get your mind around it is a great idea. It's going to be a hard adjustment when you're actually in Thailand anyway - you can't avoid that bit - but having done the mental preparation is awesome. And just running at all in preparation is a great idea - mileage done is mileage earned.
