FEMALE FIGHT ON SUPER MUAY THAI PROMOTION

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to mention that I regularly watch the Workpoint official channel on Youtube so I can view the Super Muay Thai series. For those that don't know a new show is posted on the channel every week and is usually 1 1/2 - 2 hours long of Muay Thai fights. When i tuned in to watch this morning I was pleasantly surprised to see a female fight which I have never seen on Super Muay Thai or Max Muay Thai.

It was a fight in the 47 Kilogram division and featured a fighter from Thailand vs a fighter from Italy.Would love to know if they plan to feature more female fighters?

Hopefully this fight will open doors for more female fighters to be featured on the show and others like Max and The Champion.

Sylvie if you see this please comment as I'm sure you know more about this and would also like to know if you have been approached to be on the show as I would love to see you fight on it?

Hopefully sylvie will jump on, but I can say that she doesn't know much about the series. MAX though is very firmly against female fighters. Currently though, PPTV is showing female fights every week it seems, though they are only 3 rounds. So while MAX ignores women, maybe others are seeing the profit?

The fight that you are talking about featured Duangdaonoi who Sylvie has fought (and beaten), she was pretty awesome in that fight vs the Italian - such teeps. Video was posted in the Female Fight thread here.

Thanks for responding so quickly! I thought that Sylvie may have fought her as she has had a lot of fights ,but wasn't sure.I too hope others will see the value in these fights.........the audience did!!

Duangdaonoi's teeps had a crazy amount of power and speed.Who needs a push kick when you have that much power in the front leg throwing teeps.

This was her fight against Duangdaonoi, she's a nice little fighter, and even held the 105 lb WPMF title for a bit.

Unfortunately, this promotion doesn't feature women regularly and this was a "special event" for HM the Queen's Birthday. That day is "mother's day" in Thailand and is the single biggest day for female nakmuay throughout the year. Duangdaonoi looks amazing in this fight.

Without pressure on these big promotions to feature women, it simply won't happen. That pressure is going to have to come from sponsors or viewers demonstrating interest in women's bouts and I really have no idea how that happens here in Thailand. They tend to have women's shows apart from the major men's shows, not really integrated. But PPTV features at least one female bout every week, which is promising as that's on TV.

    • PK Saenchai seems like a very safe bet. Anything you need should be there.
    • a short piece I wrote in my hand-written diary The art of running in Muay Thai is mostly misunderstood. The probably child of military training, first of the influence of the British in the early 20th century and then from the United States in the mid-century, as it filtered through the Civil Service education, the standing armed forces and then the Police, the development of the long-running Thai fighter likely is akin to the combat solider on the march. Historically, Siamese warfare indeed involved long marches, often followed by siege. But this would not explain its persistent form as it relates to the 5 round ring. As military and police practices cycled through the provinces - brought home after and between service - and men trained and fighting in Bangkok rings in both Muay Thai and prevalent sponsored Western Boxing, the Long Run likely came to pervade the Muay Thai form throughout Thailand. But this regime of training came to match something more important and inimitable to Thailand's fighting art, and that is the long wave of attack. Perhaps this length-of-wave comes from Siam's own full martial history where engagement were pronounced and lengthy, or it comes from Thailand's Buddhistic core which prescribes equanimity in all things, and active encirclement of punctuated affects of every kind. In a sport of violence the Buddhistic prescription expresses itself vitally, flattening peaks and valleys. This is to say that in the art of 5 round ring fights the long run, likely of military and field training, also drew upon the very fabric of Buddhist culture as it played out pragmatically in more than a century of ring experiments. What many mistake when questioning the optimality of long running, is that first and foremost it is not a physical conditioning. Yes, it creates a firm foundation upon which explosive training may rest, an anchorage of recovery which can be vital in fights - the recovery of wind. But it is foremost a training of energy management, lengthening the wave, and the Mind, in particular to an engagement which most pointedly steers toward escalatory peaks and their troughs. It is about extending the Mind (and the energy) in the love wave, the wave that ultimately beats punctuated forms, breaking them down.

    • I can only comment on Perth. There's a very active Muay Thai scene here - regular shows. Plenty of gyms across the city with Thai trainers. All gyms offer trial classes so you can try a few out before committing . Direct flights to Bangkok and Phuket as well. Would you be coming over on a working holiday visa? Loads of work around Western Australia at the moment.
    • Hi, I'm considering moving to Australia from the UK and I'm curious what is the scene like? Is it easy to fight frequently (proam/pro level), especially as a female? How does it compare to the UK? Any gym recommendations? I'll be grateful for any insights.
    • You won't find thai style camps in Europe, because very few people can actually fight full time, especially in muay thai. As a pro you just train at a regular gym, mornings and evenings, sometimes daytime if you don't have a job or one that allows it. Best you can hope for is a gym with pro fighters in it and maybe some structured invite-only fighters classes. Even that is a big ask, most of Europe is gonna be k1 rather than muay thai. A lot of gyms claim to offer muay thai, but in reality only teach kickboxing. I think Sweden has some muay thai gyms and shows, but it seems to be an exception. I'm interested in finding a high-level muay thai gym in Europe myself, I want to go back, but it seems to me that for as long as I want to fight I'm stuck in the UK, unless I switch to k1 or MMA which I don't want to do.
    • Hi all, Does anyone know of any suppliers for blanks (Plain items to design and print a logo on) that are a good quality? Or put me in the right direction? thanks all
    • The first fight between Poot Lorlek and Posai Sittiboonlert was recently uploaded to youtube. Posai is one of the earliest great Muay Khao fighters and influential to Dieselnoi, but there's very little footage of him. Poot is one of the GOATs and one of Posai's best wins, it's really cool to see how Posai's style looked against another elite fighter.
