This is another fight we saved from PhetJee Jaa’s family camera SD card while we were visiting them in Pattaya. I have 3 more of these unseen fights to be uploaded to YouTube. This one occurred in Chonburi in 2012, when she was 10 years old. The fight actually goes 6 rounds, because if her father is correct, people just simply forgot. If you don’t know who PhetJee Jaa is, you can read about her here in my introduction article. She may be the most highly skilled female fighter on the planet, just in terms of a base of technique and pure Muay Thai aesthetic, despite being only 12 years old now. She uses a great left side jab and teep combo to control tempo, and has strong control of her right side attack, not to mention advanced clinch that just gets better and better. You can read all my PhetJee Jaa articles here. I watch her fights to improve my technique, it is so solid.
I would like to put together a documentary project on her, as well as on the cultural position of females in Muay Thai in Thailand – authorities recently ruled that she (and no other female) is allowed to fight boys, in a ruling that was most likely directed at her as she was beating them repeatedly on national Thai television at the time. The full reason behind the ban is not really clear, other than citing that it was improper for girls to fight boys – it was announced with her in the ring, after her Ram Muay, getting ready to fight a boy on TV. It shocked her family at the time. She has over 130 recorded fights, and by my very wide guess has over 80 fights against boys.
