Above is the trailer for the upcoming John Wayne Parr documentary, as described on the SC Global Media site:

From enduring rigorous training in primitive conditions in Thailand, to the heights of his awe-inspiring accomplishments all over the planet, “Blessed With Venom” provides an intimate insight into Australian John Wayne ‘The Gunslinger’ Parr’s rise to superstardom.

“Blessed with Venom” examines seminal fights in Parr’s career. From his bloody contests with Thai marvel Orono, to his contemporary battles with Mike Zambidis, Lamsongkram and the three all out wars with superstar Yodsanklai Fairtex, John Wayne Parr is considered a legend.

We bear witness as Parr comes back from two losses to ultimately defeating Yodsanklai in Melbourne a blockbuster encounter between two giants of the sport. We see two modern day gladiators doing what they do best trading bone crunching blows in the brutal world of Muay Thai Boxing.

In addition to his championship fights, a very personal side to the Gunslinger is revealed as well, as a husband and father of two.

Champion, devoted family man and all round nice guy, John Wayne Parr is a genuine hero with infinite courage. Respected by his opponents, dearly loved by his friends and family, and a giant to his legion of fans, “Blessed with Venom” affords an intimate look into the life and times of John Wayne Parr.

I’ve always liked John Wayne Parr. Even though a Farong he captures something of that eternal boyish quality that so many Thai fighters have. I even had the honor/pleasure of being made fun of by him when I got my first cut “glued” instead of stitched, on YouTube. The trailer looks good, really like the scenes in Thailand where you can feel real cultural responses to his Thai “mom” and “dad”, and not just imitation, and never knew that “John Wayne” was his Thai given name. I’m hoping that in the film we see a lot about his experiences in Thailand.

Muay Thai

A 100 lb. (46 kg) female Muay Thai fighter. Originally I trained under Kumron Vaitayanon (Master K) and Kaensak sor. Ploenjit in New Jersey. I then moved to Thailand to train and fight full time in April of 2012, devoting myself to fighting 100 Thai fights, as well as blogging full time. Having surpassed 100, and then 200, becoming the westerner with the most fights in Thailand, in history, my new goal is to fight an impossible 471 times, the historical record for the greatest number of documented professional fights (see western boxer Len Wickwar, circa 1940), and along the way to continue documenting the Muay Thai of Thailand in the Muay Thai Library project: see patreon.com/sylviemuay
