Hi Thank you so much, there wasn't really anything in particular I wanted to know, just if the trainers were good and if it was worth the money, I'm thinking of doing there two week camp
-
Thank you! That didn't even accur to me ( I'm a wally ) thank you
-
How do you condition abs when training alone? I understand with shins it's a lot of heavy bag work, but how do I replicate taking body shots either then dropping a medicine ball on myself
-
:-) Thank you, I love the idea of learning to surf while on my downtime ( and maybe being able to train to Tiffany Van Soest ) but I also really want to stay in Thailand and try fighters, but I've only the pennies for one
-
Anyone been here? Any experience or opinions welcome, I'm thinking of doing two weeks here, but can't decide between here or Bali mma
-
Sylvie the night I arrived you were fighting in Bangkok, but unfortunately I got to the camp about 30 mins after everyone else had left ( plus I was tired and sweaty etc ) but gutted I didn't get to see you fight. Defo on my bucket list to watch you live
-
Honestly you will not regret it, I injured my ankle the day before I flew, so I couldn't train as much as I wanted, but I still had a great time. The people / kru's are lovely, area is safe, hotel is great, I hope I can afford to go back this year, but think it'll have to be next year

Just a little post to say I've not long got back home from spending two weeks trading with Sean Fagan, at khongsittha gym Bangkok If, like me anyone is considering travelling to Thailand to train anywhere, DO IT!!! It's the best thing I've ever done, I put it off for years as it seemed too scary, I'm not that fit, I'm over weight, it's a lot of money blah blah blah, do it, you will not regret it! The two hardest things were actually coming home, and trying to decide where to go next year, same gym or try a different one?

Thanks to everyone for their reply- just a quick update I've just finished a week away, where on holiday I decided to go to a few classes at a random gym, and it really made me realise just how horrible and bitchy my old gym was, I've learnt so much in just a few days and now I know that the old gym was holding me back. I'm gutted it's taken me so long to realise but now I know I can happily move on and enjoy training elsewhere, leaving all the negative feelings in my old gym. If it doesn't feel right, don't ever be afraid to change x

I've never thought of it that way, thank you, I actually feel a lot better now, and you're right I wouldn't feel guilty about supermarkets etc so why feel guilty about making the most of my training / life

I've trained at one gym for around 9 months, and although I can't explain it, I just feel like I'm being held back ( I'm in no way insinuating I would the best by now, or anything like that, not at all ) I just get a feeling that something isn't right and I'll be better off elsewhere ( I can't explain my gut feeling, I almost feel like I'm made to feel not good enough ) so after spending another 4 months feeling uneasy at this gym, I've finally made the decision to travel further afield and train elsewhere. After only two lessons i feel more confident about my future, and like I've made the right decision, however, I feel guilty about leaving the first gym, ill still use this gym for cardio / strength as it's 2 minutes from my work, and the new place is 45 minutes away, I just won't be learning Muay Thai there. The old coach has several world champions, and is a great trainer, I just don't feel he is right for me, but I feel so guilty almost like I'm cheating on my old gym / trainer, sounds so stupid I know Has anyone else experienced this? I'm doing what I think is best for me, but I feel like I've done something wrong

I read a post early ( but now can't find it ) regarding someone with only a short amount of experience wishing to fight in Thailand, and saying about no shin pads and leg conditioning- Well I'm just wondering do you have you fight without shin guards? Also the post commented on how to condition shins against a block, but is there anyway to condition the thigh, as there will no doubt be times when I'm kicked Thanks

Relaxing in the ring
Lucy replied to Lucy's topic in Muay Thai Technique, Training and Fighting Questions
I've been sparring around 6-7 months, but not on a regular basis. Sometimes I'll feel like I'm getting better, then the next lesson I'd be terrible and it knocks my confidence so I'll miss a few weeks and start over -
OMG are you going to be at Khongsittha NMN in February?

Please can someone give me tips on how to relax in the ring? I haven't even fought yet, but even during sparring, as soon as people watch I freeze up I've tried visualising winning and listening to music, or singing etc but I just end up a stupid frozen idiot, I'm starting to feel stressed before I even start training as I know I'll freeze, and I'm sure worrying about it just makes me worse

Getting over the fear
Lucy replied to Lucy's topic in Muay Thai Technique, Training and Fighting Questions
Hey fighting frog Where are you? There's an interclub in Northampton on the 16th October :-) -
This is probably a stupid question, but please I some advice. I've been training for nearly a year and a few months ago I had my first interclub, and I just froze. The nerves got the better of me, fear creeped in, I panicked and anyone would of thought it was first time wearing gloves! I've sparred many times, I've been hit harder at training and I've hit harder, but on the day, I just couldn't do it I would really like to compete, but I just can't get back in the ring. I've been offered several more interclubs where I've lied and said I'm busy that day, I'm still sparring and I don't freeze up, but I'm worried if I go in to another interclub will i freeze again, and end up giving up on my dreams Any tips on how to just get in there and do it?

Hi everyone I'm hoping someone has been on Sean Fagan's, the Muay Thai guy's fighters camp in Thailand? I'm looking into going next year, Jan / Feb camp, and was hoping someone could tell me a bit more about it How much you learnt, would you recommend it, how fit or experienced you need to be, how much 'spending' money you took etc Anything really, I'll be a solo female traveller from the UK, bit scared of the journey to be honest, flying doesn't bother me, but for some reason flying alone does! Or if anyone is thinking of going to the camp, please let me know
