My 85th fight (overall) and my 76th fight in Thailand will be happening September 15th ( this Monday) in Korat. It will be dedicated to my supporter Wing Wong.
I first became aware of her through comments on my YouTube channel, but it wasn’t until about February of this year that she actually wrote to me a private message on my Facebook page and we were more properly introduced. I like Wing Wong a lot – she’s dedicated to her love for Muay Thai and is moving toward her own goals of fighting. Most recently she’s asked me about training in Thailand and selecting a camp, which is really exciting because there is nothing in the world like training (and maybe even fighting) in Thailand and her own experience of it will change her life. It feels good to dedicate this fight to her for a few reasons, the first of which is that she’s been a supporter of me for quite a while and now that we are interacting online (in contrast to the many folks who watch my videos, read my blog and follow my page but haven’t yet written to me or left comments) I get to know what she’s experiencing as well. And secondly, that all the stuff I send out into the Ether with my website and various social media is reaching people like Wing Wong and inspiring folks to go after their dreams… well, that’s more than I could ask for, really.
The fight was arranged for me by Phetjee Jaa’s father Sangwean, when a Korat promoter was visiting the O. Meekhun gym. Hopefully it will be the source of a few more fights as well. It will be the 3rd fight I’ve had in Isaan. The first was in Nongbulampu more than a year ago, the 2nd was in Buriram last month.
We’ll be leaving Sunday morning at about 8 and driving 4 hours up to Korat, and staying in a cheap hotel that allows dogs (Jai Dee!). I’ll have my portable sauna with me, and will be on the tail end of my water cut Sunday night, and then Monday morning I’ll be weighing in at 45 kg against what they say is a lefty. Don’t know much else about her.
Wing Wong is one of my supporters generous enough to donate $100 dollars or more of help to me. The full list of public $100 or more Soldier donors is: Minu Oh, Lisa Hearting, Wing Wong, Thomas Palmer, Andy Evangeli, Nell Geiser, Dustin Grant, Robyn Klenk, Pixi Pickthall, Khanomtom Muay Thai Tampa Fl, Karen Rihanna Lim, Adrienn Neset, Michael Regala, Dana Hoey, Rachel Knox, Augie Matias. Two fights have already been dedicated. One to Khanomtom Muay Thai Tampa Fl and one to Adrienn Neset. My goal is to fight in Thailand more than any other western woman has, 100 fights. You can see how close I am to my goal always here, where my full record is as well.
My GoFundMe can be found here. I am well beyond need for transportation now. Any new contributions (and any surplus) will be used to stay and fight in Thailand as long as possible, and to keep the 8limbs.us blog alive.
