Chiang Mai – Loi Kroh – February 2nd, 201o
This is my first fight in Thailand, at Loi Kroh Stadium in Chiang Mai. I was so nervous, not knowing what to expect at all. But the nice thing about being in a strange land with different methods is that you’re so distracted by the actual PROCESS of fighting that you’re already doing the fight before you realize it: wraps, oil, warmup, get in the ring, wai kru/ram muay and GO.
I was excited to have Sylvie Charbonneau in my corner, who is an inspiration and kind of a mentor to me. She gave me a big smile and said, “good job!” at the finish of this fight. I must admit it doesn’t feel good to knee someone in the head, but it made the crowd crazy. My opponent was a champ – got up, gave me a hug and left the ring. It was a big change in my fight experience.
