MBK Bangkok – Sasiprapa Gym – March 3rd, 2010
We had an adventure getting to this fight, taking the canal and then a tuk-tuk (with 7 people, not including the driver, in the tuk-tuk!) and arriving right at 6:00. On the program I was scheduled for the first fight, but they moved me to second; so it was a very rushed situation. As I was warming up, a guy from my opponent’s camp came over to me and said “no elbows.” I said, “what?!” I asked my gym if that was the case and Thakoon said, “it’s okay, no elbows.” I must admit, I was pretty upset that elbows were given away for no reason and last minute, and with the number of rounds changes as I was climbing in the ring as well; it felt pretty much like her gym was grabbing up advantages.
Didn’t matter though. It was fun fighting in Bangkok and I loved training at Sasiprapa. After this fight a really great Thai fighter named Paowarit, who had cornered for me, took me on as his first student. I wear the title with pride and he was a great teacher!
