vs. Peeloshmee Deonarain – Take-On Productions – Queens, NY – December 11, 2010
Rematch against Peelo more than a year after our first fight. It was a big thing that we were featured as a co-main event on the poster (even though that’s not really how it went down) and we got a 5 round fight, which is unusual for amateur, non-title bouts for women in the US.
I like Peelo. She’s got a very sweet demeanor and surrounds herself with women from the female Muay Thai community in New York, as well as writing for Muay Thai publications online and generally promoting the art in a good way. She’s also a good fighter and holds a number of belts from the WKA.
This was a frustrating fight for me as I couldn’t find a way “in” and just kept circling. Staying on the outside of a defensive fighter looks like this. And I was ill-prepared for this fight. Despite having fought Peelo before and knowing full well what her strengths are, somehow we hadn’t trained against teeps.
