[update: her latest fight Phetjee Jaa เพชรจีจ้า อ.มีคุณ – March Aswindam Fight [vid] ]
I’m excited to bring a new installment in the developing career of Phetjee Jaa “Diamond G” – the 11 year old girl who fights boys on Thai TV. This video is a treat, even if you don’t understand Thai. It’s a 20 minute interview with her, her mother and her brother, Mawin, aged 12. They check her abs against his and ask her loads of questions, bringing unique exposure to female Thai fighting. (She likes fighting, thinks she wins because she trains hard, likes that by fighting she is “helping Mom,” and reiterates many times that fighting does not hurt. You can see her training with her brother who holds pads like a champ even though he’s tiny also.)
For those unfamiliar with her story I wrote an introductory article about Phetjee Jaa here: Phetjee Jaa O. Mee Khun เพชรจีจ้า อ.มีคุณ – The Girl Who Fights The Boys – Muay Thai and then a follow up update here: Phetjee Jaa O. Mee Khun เพชรจีจ้า อ.มีคุณ – The Girl Who Fights The Boys – Part 2
If you’re interested in the subject of female child Muay Thai fighting, Todd Kellstein’s film Buffalo Girls is a definite must see. I wrote a review of the film here, giving my two cents on it: Way of Life – Children, Thailand & Muay | Film Review of Buffalo Girls
