	Hi, I'm 29 and have trained Muay Thai on and off for 2 years now. At the moment I'm in Chiang Mai and considering signing up for a months worth of training where I'll be training twice a day. What was other people's experience been with this type of training and at a similar age? Sometimes I find myself very stiff on weeks where I'll only train 2/3 times.

He should be familiar with all facets of the game and have at least a couple techniques from each position. This usually takes 2 years or so of training 4-6 hrs per week.</span>

Should i have a rest day for it in between, maybe? My current workload is pretty high for a guy that haven't been in good shape for a long time yet (3 months of hard work ish)

	For background, I am not new to martial arts. I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and trained Choy Li Fut kung-fu for over nine years, combined with six years of Muay Thai/Boxing training here in the US. (Much of that training was done at Steel MMA, home gym of champion Tiffany Van Soest and Selina Flores) I have done multiple 1-on-1 sessions with professional kickboxers, boxing and MMA coaches in San Diego.

	I participated in a "fight night" event at my local gym which was essentially hard sparring with protective gear in front of a crowd. I have never competed in an official sanctioned amateur Muay Thai match though, either here in the US or abroad but have a desire to try.

	The thought of moving to Thailand for six months or a year to train seems appealing to me. However, I'm not sure if I would need that much time to train before competing in a first amateur match?

	Given my background, realistically how much time would you guys recommend for me to train at a Thai gym like Sit Thailand, Pinsinchai or Manop before having my first amateur match?

	I’ve been training Muay Thai for a year, and 2.5 months ago incurred a concussion (first concussion I’ve ever had) from a head kick in sparring and considering what the implications are for my future with potentially fighting (have never fought before).
</p>

<p>
	My symptoms<span> persisted for months, due in part to the severity of the concussion but also in part to unwise healing process (I was not given a good healing-roadmap by my doctors unfortunately). Luckily now I am just about healed up.</span>
</p>

<p>
	Even once I am healthy enough to return to sparring, I am concerned that I have now developed a glass jaw:
</p>

<p>
	My logic is that if I could get concussed from a head kick (it was a heavy one to be fair) in sparring, I fear I would almost *certainly* be concussed from the power of blows thrown in an *actual* fight. <br />
	 
</p>

<p>
	When I talk to fighters I know, most have never been concussed, or if they have, it was a brief mild thing, not like mine where symptoms have persisted for months (again this is in part to not permitting ideal healing conditions for the head).<br />
	 
</p>

<p>
	To me this suggests that I am perhaps susceptible to concussion, and there is a virtual certainty that after having one concussion, I am more likely to incur another.
</p>

<p>
	I really want to keep sparring (once I am entirely recovered) and I would really love to have a fight eventually (next year), but I need to be wise in my choices about the damage I’m exposing myself to.
</p>

<p>
	Can anybody speak to their experience with being concussed and then continuing to spar+fight going forwards?
</p>

<p>
	Is my jaw/head just not “cut out” for striking if I am getting concussed in sparring like that?
</p>

<p>
	Of course nobody can offer medical advice but I’d love to hear people’s experiences and hear what people have observed.

	My shoulders  when i raise my arms in straight line 180 degrees ---------- like this line i have my arms side of my body

	It does not hurt as i can handle it, but it is kind of feeling which u get when u do light dumbells exercises for shoulder during training and in the end u have that feeling.

	Hello! I started training Muay Thai this summer and found that I really loved to train. So far I have attended Thai pad classes and Bag classes. I haven't been able to train in a gym since September because I am taking a service/volunteer year traveling around The United States and I won't be home in my region until August 2022. I want to keep pursuing Muay Thai but I am having a hard time deciding what my focus should be as I have little to no access to gyms and trainers. As of right now I spend time exercising, shadow boxing, and reading through the Muay Thai library. Does anyone have any suggestions on what else I should do to stay engaged in Muay Thai?

	after i wrote my experience with Sagat in a seperated post the last weeks of my training  were pretty much consumed by a minor part of the techniques learned by Sagat.
</p>

<p>
	This regards the positioning of the elbow within the extension of the arm when punching straight. Within the MTL there are a lot of sessions were Sylvie talks about chicken winging and that this is (was?) a problem with her punching technique. Chicken winging describes the part of the arm movement of a straight punch where the elbows flares out to side. This could mean that the tip of the elbow should always face down to the ground or have a maximum angle of 45 degree to the ground. But within my training and after reviewing my sessions with sagat i would argue that there is definitly room for lifting and rotating the elbow upwards <u><em>at the very end of the arm movement</em></u>. For reference i added a 3 minute cutout of my training with sagat where it is all about the straight cross and with lots of corrections.
</p>

<p>
	The best feeling and the most feedback (from my body and from Sagat) i got while training was when the tip of my elbow "looked to the side" and not downwards.  I would also say that the wrist feels more supported when the driving force at the very end of the movement comes from the elbow. You can even try this with overrotating the fist like Chatchai Sasakul. The moment the thumb turns downward the elbow automatically rotates and points to the side.
</p>

<p>
	What are your thoughts on the positioning of the elbow? For my part i never thought much about it until this year.
</p>
